Operation Robinson Crusoe - King Kong vs. Ebirah by Fourgreen Operation Robinson Crusoe - King Kong vs. Ebirah by Fourgreen
Taking a slight detour from movies that feature Godzilla, "ORC - KK vs. E" is another one of those "What if?" alternate possibilities.

For those unaware, Godzilla vs The Sea Monster was a vehicle originally intended for Kong under Toho's care; Everything about the movie remained the same with him taking Godzilla's place. It makes more sense, as Kong is better suited to fight gigantic animals/prehistoric throwbacks. Ebirah NEVER made sense in terms of giving Godzilla a challenge, considering his Atomic breath would pretty much boil the lobster fairly quick.  Pitting two monsters against each other with just physical feats would up Ebirah's threat factor, with his massive claws, and ocean element.

I used the "King Kong Escapes" Kong for this, as that movie was the end result of Toho's next version of him. i'd imagine he'd resemble that suit more than the hokey gorilla costume from KK vs G.

Interesting, I once wrote just for the heck of it, a brief idea of a kaiju film that involved King Kong, Mothra and King Caesar joining forces to battle Hedorah in the South Pacific after a company drilling for oil unleashes a new Smog Monster. It would have had an American lead actor and involved Rolisica being behind the pollution. A battle would have taken place on the island where Hedorah was reborn and then headed to Okinawa.

Man, these are all just so fantastic. :3c I hope you keep these up, not just because you're good at it, but there's sooooo much stuff out there that doesn't get much fan art. Nessie, Barbaroi, Bride of Godzilla, and the rather recently discovered Chameleon from Japan S.O.S., just to name a few. I love this kind of stuff, because it's like you're getting a bunch of new ideas and stories that were lost to time in addition to a sort of "what if?" scenario of an alternate timeline where the movie actually did get made. So, is Batman vs. Godzilla next? ;o

I'm of two minds about this one, personally. On one hand GvsSM is so obviously a King Kong movie that it's a little hard to accept in its present form, even before I knew it was at one point actually a King Kong movie, and then of course there's the part where, because of it turning into a Godzilla movie, we missed out on Batman vs. Godzilla. On the other hand, KKvsE getting cancelled led directly to two really, really awesome things: Son of Godzilla and Gorosaurus. It also indirectly led to the eventual creation of Mechagodzilla, who was inspired by King Kong's own mechanical double. Is one movie where Godzilla is cast in a role that wasn't written for him worth all that? Well, it's sort of hard to tell because of course we don't know what else would have come down the line if KKvsE and BMvsG came out.

Heck, maybe there's an alternate universe somewhere where Godzilla regularly fought superheros, culminating in a 1979 Godzilla vs. Spiderman where he finally fights Leopardon. Well, one can dream...

Man, thank you for the kind words. It's been a blast working on these. I've taken a small break for now, but I plan on tackling mostly all the projects that were lost. I doubt I'll get into any sentai versions where Godzilla and Batman are involved (because I cant even imagine how that would work...lol) but I will try to get more into the zany-ier concepts like A Space Godzilla and so on...

actually my joke was refering to the serpent in king kong escapes but I imagine kong's reaction would be pretty much the same for either one of them.

Toho really should have just gave this giant shrimp to Kong. Ebirah was never worthy to grapple against the King of the Monsters!))

I wouldn't have been surprised to see a third version of Kong had this film ever been made, but your choice of "Escapes" Kong is very tasteful :D Well done!!

I wish this had happened, this one was a pretty boring Godzilla movie, and Kong would have worked SO much better in the lead role.
Plus, it would have taken away that... mind-scratching volleyball scene between the big G and Ebirah.

Great work! I think it's interesting how Godzilla vs. The Sea Monster was originally meant for King Kong. But I still don't understand all the hate G vs. SM gets. Everyone's reason seems to be "This film sucks because it was originally meant to be King Kong." That's like saying Die Hard sucks because it was originally written for Arnold Schwarzenegger instead of Bruce Willis. I think it's a fine entry and I enjoy it more that most of the Heisei films. I actually liked seeing Godzilla take on more mundane monsters once in while and I like seeing how more simple foes would try to fight Godzilla. I also thought Ebirah was a pretty awesome looking Kaiju. It also hosts one of my favorite moments,  Godzilla ripping Ebirah's arms off.

Eh, I always found it a bit boring, and the dubbing gets on my nerves. That isn't the movie's fault though, that's the distributor's.

It's one of my faves too...but I do notice it now that I know who it was originally intended for. I would have only preferred it was a Kong movie, for the sole reason that it would have further cemented him being in the Godzilla universe.

The thing that bother me about the production of this movie is how arrogant Americans were during the Civil Rights era, if movie producers in the US gave more to offer with Kong to Japan then this could have happened, instead Godzilla is inapplicably given Kong's powers at best.

Plus on that note they had to make Godzilla incoherently betray Mothra despite his and Rodan's "agreement" to help fight against Ghidorah. It set me at turntable when I saw that cause I thought when I saw Destroy All Monsters as a kid I thought Godzilla and Mothra were friends from the start.

Though I guess this wasn't all bad cause I got see more of Godzilla and plus being in fact DaisensoGoji is one of my favorites. Also those abilities worked well for Godzilla.

I think Godzilla just wanted a friendly rematch. Notice how he didn't try to pursue Mothra after their brief fight. He didn't even really use his atomic breath at her during the fight besides the beginning. But he looked like he missed on purpose. At least that's how I view it.

I don't think so, maybe you're right. However Godzilla also knew that the was going to self-destruct, but then again Godzilla wasn't intentionally good.

Yeah I guess it would have made far more sense for the movie, especially that in the movie, I don't know if I'm right or wrong since I don't really remember quite that well, Godzilla showed some sort of interest towards a female character and that is a trait of Kong !

Yup! Even his mannerisms when fighting Ebirah were sort of Kong-ish. From doing rock-volleyball to mocking Ebirah with his own claw that he tore off.

Of course, I always believed that Kong was over-matched until he suddenly  harnessed the power of lightning (!?). The ocean is more Godzilla's element than Kong's, so he could have probably gotten the upper hand. Its a very diplomatic ending, because it does feel ambiguous. The American audience sees Kong, so we assume he's the victor...but he is also fleeing from the mainland, when it would be natural for any land-dwelling creature to seek the closest shore possible. The Japanese audience can interpret that as "Kong is running from us" and thus assume that Godzilla gave him a whooping that sent him swimming as far away as he could get.

would've been a neat, though small, crossover between Mothra and King Kong.

*is surprised Toho didn't put THOSE two together in a movie during this period*
